Zappa on ‘proper’ music

Any composition or improvisation which remains consistent and regular throughout is, for me, equivalent to watching a movie with only ‘good guys’ in it, or eating cottage cheese.

Frank Zappa has long been one of my musical and intellectual heroes. I still believe his fascination for the accidental, the wrong notes, as well as the good notes in the wrong song, challenges the listeners to face the reality that there is no division between music and intellect, or between art and life.
